Chapter 2: Two words

Nicki stared at her phone with disbelief and a screwed facial expression. She couldn’t believe Lauren was trying to set her up, and on several blind dates at that. Nicki knew in her heart how lonely she was but she was just nervous. She was scared no one would live up to her expectations. She had the highest, due to several awful relationships in her past. The guys she usually dated always seemed to have wanted something from her and used her to get it. So she was very cautious letting people in her life and in her heart. Being an artist had been a difficult change for her. She now has to be very careful, and trusts very little.  She just didn’t want to be used nor did she want to worry about a relationship while boosting up her career. The thoughts in her mind went a mile a minute. As she was caught up in her thoughts she didn’t realize someone was knocking at her door. She quickly jogged to her front door to see who it was and what they wanted. As she opened it a small little boy with curly hair, and big beautiful brown eyes jumped in her arms. Nicki gave him several kisses on his cheek and felt so at eased.

Nicki: “Omggggggg Isiah you have gotten so big lamb chop, how are ya?”

Isiah: “I am otay Nika, daddy buy me new toy.” He handed her his blue and white toy car that was off of the movie ‘Transformers’ she never understood how those things worked but she was in awed with how excited he was. It gave her an idea. She was so wrapped up into talking to Isiah she completely ignored SB’s precense.

SB *clears throats* “M-m-m, I see I am not missed here, I haven’t seen you in over 2 weeks and you just forget about lil ol’ me, a coon sees u. You can’t even offer a nigga to come in properly.” He joked.  She looked up feeling awkward, while locking eyes with Safaree. Ever since she had that dream earlier that day she felt a little odd. Of course SB was her best friend, but she had always wanted more from him. She hated knowing he had a girlfriend and a son that wasn’t even by her. Nicki met his girl only a few times, and that was enough for her. She felt something was really off with her but she decided not to talk to SB about it since that was his baby’s mama.

SB: *snaps his fingers in her face* “HELLO, ONIKA, ONIKA did u hear me? Damn the kid gets no love.”

 Nicki: “Boy shut up, how u been nigga I see u looking healthy and shit, come in.” Nicki’s eyes wondered over him as she escorted him inside.

SB: “Same ol’ same ol’ taking care of this lil guy and being the best I can be for my girl.” Nicki clinched her jaws trying to hold back from what she really wanted to say.

Nicki: “Oh sounds like you have a lot on your plates. Anyways, guess wtf Lauren trying to do?” SB noticed something different with Nicki but brushed it off.

SB: “What the girl do now?”

Nicki: “She is trying to set me up on a few blind dates. Like I am scared it has been a long time since I have dated.” Nicki and SB continued to talk until Isiah felt like his attention was being deprived. They stopped talking for awhile to see what he wanted.

SB: “Hey little man what ya need? Are u hungry?”

Isiah: “Mhhhhmmm” he said cheerfully.

SB: “Okay lil coon. Nicki is it okay if I heat up his spaghetti-os?” Nicki watched how SB and Isiah interacted and she was in awed, she couldn’t wait to have a family. She wanted to be the one to cook for her man and child. Go shopping for toys and cater to her man on occasions. Nicki was snapped out of her illusions for the umpteenth time.

SB: “Nicki what is up with u today? You want to talk like what is on your mind, because you keep spacing out on me and I’m getting worried.”

Nicki: “I’m sorry SB, there’s just a lot on my mind you know I have my sophomore album to finish and all that, that is it.” She tried lying but SB knew better, but decided to let it rest for now.

SB: “Okay, I’ll let this slide for now, I’m heading to the kitchen to heat this up for Siah.”

Nicki: “Fine by me.” She stared at SB walking into the kitchen to heat up his sons food and felt a buzz. Her phone was ringing. As she picked it up with caution because it was a private number.

Nicki: “Hellooo, who-who is this?” she stuttered.

Annonymous: "Don't worry about who tf this is. Just be at 6721 Hollywood Boulevard
Los Angeles at 7pm tonight" Nicki rolled her eyes knowing who it was, the voice wasn't even well disguised.

Nicki: "And why exactly should I meet there" she played along.

Annonymous: "Two words: Kino Sushi" the phone hung up. At that point Nicki knew this was going to be a hell of an experience but if it could get her mind off of SB, she will have to deal. [Let the games begin]
